Hiking in Cappadocia

This easy hike will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful valleys, underground cities, canyons, and villages of Cappadocia. Acessible to all with not much elevation levels.

 

Day 1 : Arrival in Cappadocia

Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel with the airport shuttle.

 

Day 2 : From Gemildere to Uçhisar

You’ll take a short minibus ride to ascend above the village of Göreme. Walk in the magnificent valleys of Gemildere, and Zemi, Pigeon valleys, up to the rocky peak of Uçhisar (1000 m) with its panoramic view of the region. 5 hours of walking. Return to the hotel.

 

Day 3 : The Most Beautiful Cappadocian Valleys

Departure after breakfast ot hike through the most beautiful valleys in the region: Baglidere Valley, Rose Valley, and Red Valley with their extraordinary lunar landscapes, until the village of Çavusin. 5 hours of walking. Return to the hotel.

 

Day 4 : Canyon and Underground City of Derinkuyu

Off to to an underground city, one of the most surprising features of Cappadocia. After visiting, we’ll head too the village of Ihlara where the largest canyon in Cappadocia begins, the Ihlara or Peristrema Canyon. Along the Melendiz River, we discover some of the hundred rock-cut churches in the valley, shaded by poplar, jujube and pistachio trees. 5 hours of walking. Return to the hotel.

 

Day 5 : Gomeda Valley and Pancarlık Monastery

Our trail winds through the Gomeda Valley, then descends into the Üzengi riverbed at the foot of magnificent dovecotes carved into the cliff. We continue to the Pancarlık Valley, which hides some of the most beautiful rock-cut churches in the region (Pancarlık Church), before reaching the Balkans Valley. Arrival in the village of Ortahisar. Panoramic view from the top of its rocky peak over the fairy chimney valleys in the surroundings. Return to the hotel. 5 hours of walking.
