A short drive along the Golden Horn will take us to the neighbourhood of Fener or transport to the neighbourhood of Fener/Balat. First we`ll visit the Orthodox Patriarchate, the Greek Orthodox equivalent of the Vatican, and the St. George church. We`ll go on to the Kariye museum which has the city`s most beautiful golden mosaics describing the life of Christ as well as some remarkable paintings especially the one of the resurrection of Adam and Eve. We`ll then get onto our minibus to visit the Fethiye mosque and the renovated museum of Pammakaristos, where on can also see wonderful mosaics.
In the afternoon, we'll stroll through Egyptian Bazaar with its stalls full of spices and explore the well hidden Rustem Pasa mosque covered with blue Iznik tiles. Next stop, the Suleymaniye Mosque, masterpiece of Sinan, the chief architect of the Ottoman Empire, built in the name of Suleyman The Magnificent during the 16th century and considered as the best amongst the imperial mosques.
